STIEN

By 2026, all municipalities in Denmark must provide free and accessible treatment services to support children facing mental health challenges, without the need for a referral.

Through animation and storytelling, the video explains the different services Kalundborg Municipality offers under STIEN, showing how it provides accessible treatment and support for children and young people.

The project was made in collaboration with Klædt På and my role was to design and develop the creative direction and to animate the explainer.

The focus behind the development of the visual style wasto balance child-friendly appeal with sensitivity to a serious subject.

The illustrations use simple, outlined shapes that are easy to read and understand for children aged 6–11, without becoming overly cartoony or childish.

A rich use of textures and subtle collage elements adds depth and character, giving the visuals a tactile, warm feeling. The vision with choosing this graphic style was to make the film feel more relatable and engaging, while avoiding a flat or generic look.

Overall, the final vision was to develop a style that aims to create a welcoming and trustworthy visual universe - one that feels playful enough to capture the attention of the target group, yet calm and thoughtful enough to support the serious subject of children’s mental health.
